I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of Julep. The first couple months I completely forgot that I could swap beauty profiles, add on items, and cancel or send my box to a friend. It made me bitter, and I was sure I was going to cancel.
I’m really in awe of all of you who kept things up and running during the holidays. With all the wrapping, eating, and card playing, not to mention the serious lack of daytime lighting for pictures, I really couldn’t be bothered to post during the last month. But I’m back, and I’m really excited about this post!
Despite getting a head start on my Christmas shopping this year, there are still a few people I’ve struggled to find gifts for. Boys, mostly, because you know, boys are hard. Anyway, I thought I’d do a series of gift-guide posts for the person (or persons) in your life who are consistently hard to shop for. First up: The Beauty Junkie.
I’ve been in Holiday mode, 100%. I’ve gotten a jump on my Christmas shopping, so I’ll be sitting pretty while everybody else is fighting throngs of miserable people and screaming kids at the mall come December. So I’ve been on the eagerly awaiting the mail every day for a week, but I completely forgot that I should be expecting a Birchbox as well. Bonus, as I was starting to get jealous of all the cool stuff that was coming for everybody else haha.
I had good intentions when I walked into the drugstore Wednesday afternoon. Soap, toothpaste, deodorant, that’s all, I told myself. I had a plan and was sticking to it, so I was going to just walk right on by the makeup aisles to avoid temptation. But then, just as I was strolling by aisle 5, I spied a new display out of the corner of my eye. Just one look, I thought, it can’t hurt.
It was the new Revlon Colorburst Matte and Lacquer Balm display. I had no idea these were even in the works, and the idea immediately excited me. So I perused the shades aaaaand…
I’m never going to be that person who lives to work, and I will probably always complain about it. But despite my excessive whingeing, I’ve really loved this month. It’s been getting progressively cooler (I say “cooler” – it’s still in the 90s most days, but that’s better than 100s, eh?), and there’s the build up to The Englishman’s visit, and I don’t know what it is about autumn, but it feels so fresh and amazing to me. I know most people start to really get into the swing of the year in the spring, but for me it’s always been fall. It makes me feel giddy and bubbly inside. Does anybody else feel that way, or is it just me?
I’ll stop rambling. I feel like I’ve been using and loving a really great mix of products this month, and am super excited to share them.
Revlon has stolen my heart this year. They’re a fantastic brand in general, and I don’t think I’m jumping the gun by saying that their Lip Butters are probably my favorite beauty product of the entire year. Hello! That’s a big deal.
